Frequently asked questions about patent pending assets
Once you've filed your patent application, you're entitled to use "Patent pending" in your marketing, on your website, and on your product. It signals that a formal application is on file with the patent office, even though the patent hasn't been granted yet.
It's a strong trust and credibility signal. It shows customers, partners, and investors that you're building something original and that you're taking active steps to protect it. It can also deter competitors from copying your product, and it's often a detail investors specifically look for during due diligence.
As soon as your application is officially filed, you're free to use the "Patent pending" badge and the other assets on this page.
Common placements include your website footer, product page, email signatures, and pitch decks. It's meant to be visible wherever you're already showcasing your product.

Not until the patent is officially granted. Calling a pending application as "Patented" can be misleading and, in some jurisdictions, carries legal risk. Stick to "Patent pending" until we confirm your patent has been granted.
"Patent pending" only applies in the countries where you've actually filed. If you've only filed in one jurisdiction, you can't claim patent pending status for markets where no application is on file. Check with your Lightbringer contact if you're expanding into new markets and want to understand your options.
