Crack the Code of Innovation: The Art of Doing the Opposite Unveiled

In the dynamic world of problem-solving, a groundbreaking approach sometimes lies in doing the opposite of the conventional. Stepping away from the well-trodden path can be the breeding ground for inventive solutions. Let's explore this concept through a real-world example from one of my patents (US10,021,632).

The conventional approach

Consider a scenario where a mobile device powers up, scanning for a base station to establish a connection. The conventional approach prioritizes searching for the highest data rate base station (perhaps 5G) for optimal user experience. However, this often translates to a longer scanning time, leaving users disconnected and unable to use their apps during the process.

let´s do the opposite

Now, let's do the opposite. Instead of adhering to the common practice, we start by scanning for a lower data rate base station (let's say 4G) to achieve a faster synchronization. Once the device is synced with any base station, the subsequent transition to a higher data rate (5G) is considerably quicker. The result? Users get connected faster, reducing the overall time until they can browse the internet seamlessly.

embrace the unconventional

In essence, "doing the opposite" is akin to turning left on a busy road when the common solution would be to wait for both lanes to clear. Embrace the unconventional—utilize the nearby roundabout by making a right turn. This unexpected maneuver only requires checking traffic to the left but leads you around the roundabout, putting you in the right direction. Sometimes, the key to a better solution is found by daring to do the opposite.
