Here, DriveX shares their journey of rapidly securing IP protection and ensuring their innovative vehicle inspection solution was ready for market launch.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your company, DriveX?

DriveX team: DriveX Technologies is an Estonia-based tech company founded in 2020 by Rauno Sigur (CEO), Kentti Koppel (CTO), and Valter Läll (CPO). DriveX offers an AI vehicle inspection solution that in addition to detecting damage on the vehicle body, can instantly determine whether a damaged windshield is repairable or needs to be replaced.

The inspection process is self-service and remote, with the app guiding users through taking high-quality photos of their cars. The photo capture is simplified by built-in instructions, instant feedback, and real-time guidance. Once the inspection is complete, a visual assessment and damage report are automatically generated.

DriveX team: Start very early with some basic training on what makes something an invention, a trade secret, or a patent. There are many free materials and consultations available that offer entry-level education. This is crucial since it can make or break your company.

Additionally, investigate what your competitors have done to protect their intellectual property—conducting a Freedom to Operate search is essential. Understanding who should have access to certain knowledge and information, both inside and outside the company, is also critical.
